Freedom Fighters out of Time

Freedom Fighters out of Time - Let nothing dim the light that shines!

Did you meditate on the 4th? Do you know what else happened on the 4/4?

Today is the 7th of April. 3 days and 92 years ago Dr. Maya Angelou was born. 3 days and 52 years ago Rev. Martin Luther King was murdered.

They both stood up and fought for freedom. And they both did this fight with non-violence.

Can we imagine that still to this day such fights are being silenced with hatred and fear? Can we imagine that still to this day these names and their great efforts are being diminished or even forgotten?

Do we want to imagine that one day we will wake up and know nothing about the lives lived for justice to be made?

I know I don't. I know my children will never forget what is right and what is wrong. I know I will never cease to educate them on the extreme necessity for non-violent fights for justice, equality, peace, and freedom.

It all starts within. This is where both Dr. Angelou and Rev. King began. They slew the demons within and as a result, they could conquer any external demons with silence. And when they spoke, their words would be so frightening to them who wished injustice to be maintained that it would cause ripple effects on the entire world.

They both rose from the extreme injustice they grew up in. They are not the only ones. There are phenomenal speakers and guides all over the globe, however very few make my tears pour in reverence for such dedication and faith that Dr. Angelou and Rev. King had.

I know I am not of color. But my children are. My friends and my family. But I am a woman, born in a free country, yet I have always seen prisons where others found ease. And I have always felt a strong pull to not lay down to the norms of society.

You see, the injustices are still present. More so than ever. They are now normalized and romanticized. They are instilled in our bones and souls as if they were aiding us to grow. When they only keep us captive.

What is convenient can never be just, just because it is convenient. What is comforting is not automatically true. There is a huge need for discernment, especially in western society.

If we imagine that we are free, yet millions still are slain and millions are still hunted and thousands are still starved, because of these social codes and norms (that now surpass skin color and gender, but are all about willingness to oblige to the inverted system of power), if we still imagine ourselves free as humanity, then we ought to see how blind we are too.

If the big brother says go back to your room or you might get consequences for staying out too late (without washing your hands or wearing a face cover) and if we follow these assortments to the T, then tell me, what good is the work of these phenomenal justice fighters, such as Dr. Angelou and Rev. King?

Who's work has echoed for over half a century, who's lives begun almost 100 years ago. Has nothing changed? Was it in vain?

Time is really not relevant, we are running out of time as we speak. Wasting time speaking about time as if time is all we have left. Well, these numbers can be used or abused, alike any currency - numbers that we've been taught make up the entire make-up of universal languages. In fact, these numbers where man created and they are not a creation of God. We are fooled if we believe that numbers can be counted on as a god-given right to liberty. Time is the effort we put in, the energy we give ourselves as we give service. Time is the now, that is the only true timing of it all. So yes, we can count numbers, hours and days, count how long we have chosen to be in visual or invisible quarantine enslavement or imprisonment. But really, the time that we count is serving one purpose only, and that is to give us perspective enough to encounter remembrance of the importance of justice. How could we forget? In a society that aims for forgetfulness, we shouldn't blame nor judge ourselves, however, it is vital to not go back to slumber once you've awakened to the scenario of mental slavery.

Let us not be fooled into forgetfulness. Let us remember what justice in Truth is. Let us remember how significant we are, as individuals and as a collective. How extremely important it is to dream of different scenery for ourselves and for our children, but also for our ancestors, the ones who paved the way.

We can dare to dream, so diligently, that dreams will come true. It is all up to me & you.

We choose.
